Dear Editor:

The Summerland Badminton Club, on the 75th Anniversary of the Hall, and the occasion of the Grand Reopening of the renovated Hall, want to thank all the club members who volunteered so much time and effort making the event a success.

First, we thank the Penticton Badminton Club for their generous donation of $70,000 for the renovations. Dave Knight Trucking supplied a load of topsoil for landscaping. Marketplace IGA donated a congratulatory cake. Wines for the wine-tasting were supplied by Thornhaven, Silkscarf and Hollywood & Wine. The barbecue was supplied by The Breakfast Club Catering, under the direction of chef Audie Yastremski. Uptown Dog Sign and Design gave us the Grand Reopening sign. Dave Case of Case Construction did most of the renovations, and we thank him for all the little extras.

The mayor came to the event, and we thank her for her kind words of congratulation and encouragement. MP Stockwell Day was unable to attend, but he sent us a congratulatory note.

Thank you also to all the members of the public who came out to help celebrate this special event. Now, let’s all play badminton.

Danny Evanishen

President, Summerland Badminton Club
