Letter: Chilliwack should follow Surrey's lead on dog parks

Re: Kelly Moore’s letter regarding off-leash parks, July 31

I heartily agree with the comments made in this letter and it is tragic that there is such disregard for wildlife in the pursuit of the almighty dollar.

It is no surprise that Surrey has nine off-leash parks as the mayor and council there have animal welfare on their agenda, (i.e. fines for people who violate the “Care of Dogs” section of the bylaw).

It would not appear that our council is the least bit interested in areas concerning compassion for our four-legged friends. I hope I am wrong—time will tell.
