LETTER: Pressure teachers are under is unbearable

Editor:

I was married to a teacher for 20 long years. She taught calculus, trigonometry and all that fancy math stuff that 90 per cent of us don’t understand. The pressure that teachers are under is unbearable. The student are a problem but the parents are the worst. Because their child could stack up three blocks at age three they think that their child should be an architect, engineer or rocket scientist when the fact is the kid is dumb as a post. A child takes home a failing grade and it’s the teachers fault.

I wouldn’t take their jobs for all the money in B.C. nor would anyone else who didn’t actually care about the kids. These positions take their toll on mental health, family life and all around enjoyment of life. As much as I dislike teachers they have my respect for the jobs they do.

Do the children a favour, look after the teachers and keep the parents, government and administration at a good distance.
