Egg-cellent point
Is it ethical to eat eggs?
In the world of laying chickens, 50 per cent of the eggs that hatch become laying hens. The other half are slaughtered as day-old chicks.
Every laying bird, whether heritage or commercial, is hatched with a brother who’s life is more often than not, tossed in the trash. I feel that such a senseless disregard for life reflects very poorly on our society today.
The male chicks could be utilized on the dinner table, thus giving their life value and meaning. This is why I eat heritage chicken. I feel life should be respected. I believe eating eggs without putting heritage chicken meat on our table is supporting the slaughter of cute little fuzzy baby chicks.
