Wood Gundy Millionaires used a second-half rally to ground Monashee’s 2-1 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Masters Division play Thursday night at MacDonald Park.

Ken Gaskell’s Mills got great pressure early in the first half from midfielders Joan Cooke, Tori Haller and Andrea Dollinger.

Bonnie Kelly created some good chances throughout the match, Michelle Hughes was relentless in the midfield and Lisa Rands consistently won her one-on-one battles.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Millionaires responded in the second as Haller chipped a great ball in to Lisa Curtis, who calmly buried her shot.

The defensive duo of Michelle Doroshuk and Sheryl Matvenko worked the back line to keep the ball in the Kickers’ end.

After winning a ball off a Kickers’ forward, Janine Collinson, sent it up the line to Haller who relayed it to Stephanie Dodds. Dodds was all alone as she took a touch and drove her shot far post for the winner.

Danielle Dunsmore was outstanding in goal for the 13-1-1 Mills. Monashee’s are 0-15.

Sir Winston’s Second Wind maintained their grip on second place as they iced Salmon Arm Setters Pub 3-1 Thursday night at Marshall Field #2.

The 11-2-2 Second Wind got goals from Edeen Ramsey, Kim Wiebe and Minda Chittenden.

Sweeper Suzy Andrews and midfielder Anita Csatho played solid games, while alternate keeper Dawn Lemiski also turned in a stellar performance.

In Competitive Division action, the Breakers had to forfeit against the Blazers as they didn’t have enough bodies to field a team. They played a friendly scrimmage instead.

The Blazers are 12-3-2, the Breakers are 2-14-1.

Meanwhile, in Okanagan Valley Oldtimers 50+ men’s action, Vernon #1 brushed back Lake Country FC 4-3 Thursday night at DND.

Kevin Mitchell (2), Mahmoud-Abdel Kader and Ken Barker, on a penalty kick, scored for Vernon, who got stellar midfield play from Dick Markin.

Fred Laurisen, Mike Ley and Mike Siemens, on a 25-yard corker top shelf, replied for Lake Country.

Mark Devolder fired a pair of goals as Kal Tire grounded Kelowna 4-0 Thursday night at Quarry Park in the Mission.

Denis Chabot and Jan Huberts supplied Vernon’s other goals.
