Edeen Ramsey scored on a sweet long shot from the outside as Sir Winston’s Second Wind shut out North Okanagan United 1-0 in North Okanagan Women’s Soccer Association Masters Division play Thursday night at Marshall Field #3.

“They (NOU) came out strong in both halves and kept us on our toes,” said Kris Ponto of Second Wind (8-1-2).

“Hats off to Lisa Wright in net for keeping us in the game on more than one occasion, including stopping a penalty shot after a foul in the 18-yard box.”

Lisa Boer and Suzy Andrews enjoyed excellent games on defence for Second Wind. Despite injury, Denise Connor came out and gave it her all for the winners.

Jodi Hawthorne had a stellar showing as well for Sir Winnie’s, running passes in the middle and setting up plays up front.

Wood Gundy Millionaires finished their third game of the week with a 3-0 win over Tillicum Controllers at Marshall #1.

Good pressure from the start created an early scoring opportunity for the 9-1-1 Millionaires. Michelle Hughes passed a ball off a Glenda Hatten throw to Andrea Dollinger, who struck it cleanly over the keeper’s head.

Stephanie Dodds and Danielle Dunsmore had some great runs in along with Mechelle Hennig and Lisa Rands in the midfield.

Calendar girl Tori Haller and Sheryl Matvenko let nothing past them on defence along with sweeper Michelle Doroshuk.

Bonnie Kelly scored on a great shot far post to make it 2-0 in the second half.

Shortly after, a Tillicum defender batted a ball down with her hand in their end, which Kelly converted for the third goal on the awarded penalty kick. Erica August earned the shutout.
