Dozers earn draw with Nitros

Jock’s Blasting Dynamite and the Ted Luszcz Bulldozers had their bats sizzling headed to the Vernon Women’s Slo-Pitch League playoffs Saturday at the DND diamonds.

The pennant-winning Dynamite (11-1-2) and third-place Dozers (7-6-1) finished the regular season Wednesday night with a 17-17 tie.

Tara Young was 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Dozers, who got two hits and one RBI from pitcher Sherry Kineshanko and one hit and three walks from Mandy Christensen.

Lori Shippy earned game MVP for Jock’s with four hits and some great defence.

The second-place Whitehouse Mortgage Gators wrapped up the regular season with a 19-3 win over the Dozers Wednesday night.

Danielle Saddleman, Jen Doyle and Jenn Thatcher each batted 1.000 and combined for five ribbies for the Gators (8-6). Brandie Hunter, Michelle Embleton, Pam Condie, Keona Joe, Tiffany Disher, Jodi Tung and Terri Rose MacMillan connected for the other 14 RBI.

Kas O’Neill went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI for the Dozers, who got two hits apiece from Rebecca Warnes and Christensen.
