Preds edge Bruins

Shawn Hansma recorded the winner with six minutes remaining as the Predators dumped the M&K Ready Mix Bruins 7-5 in Interior Hockey League play Wednesday night at Wesbild Centre.

Matt Litzenberger led the Preds (3-1) with 2+1, while Trevor Abel, Justin Horochuk and Derrek Martin supplied singles.

Dave Schneider paced the Bruins (2-2) with two goals. Chris Church added three helpers.

Chris Bradford and Ben Williamson each pocketed 2+2, and Ryan Kurbis added 2+1 as the R.E. Postill and Sons Orphans stuffed the Sutton Group Acadians 10-4.

Grady Gare chipped in with three helpers for the Orphans (3-1), while Jerry Reinhardt fired 2+1 for the Acadians (1-3), whose netminder James Scherk faced 44 shots.

Murray Vetsch and Brent Magnus scored in the shootout as the Vernon Square Liquor Store Kings downed the Hitmen 4-3 Tuesday at Civic Arena.

Don Hunter paced the Kings (3-1) with a pair of goals, while Dave Munk responded with two for the Hitmen (1-3). Kyle Plizka assisted on each Hitmen goal.

Rhett Ballard (3+1) came up big for On The Roxx Ice Dogs as they powered past Moe’s Joes 8-2 at Civic.

Darrin Holte got in on the 3-1 Roxx’ attack with 2+2. Brian Robertson and Kyle Bedman handled the 0-4 Joes’ offence.
