Downtown hosting Treat Trail
Parents who want to trick or treat with their kids before darkness sets in on Saturday are invited downtown.
Kids 12 years and under in costume, accompanied by their parents, can visit participating businesses and walk the ‘Treat Trail’ to receive loads of awesome Halloween treats (while quantities last).
“The Downtown Treat Trail is a wonderful alternative for those parents who want to take their children out into the community trick or treating” said Kim Bourke, events and marketing co-ordinator at the Downtown Vernon Association.
“The Treat Trail is held during the afternoon when it is still light out, and the treats are coming from trusted business owners so it is a really safe and fun environment.”
The DVA asks the public to respect the downtown business owners and visit them for Halloween Treats only between 3 and 5 p.m.
Downtown merchants who will be participating in the Treat Trail have signed up through the DVA and will be identified by a black and orange balloon bouquet.
Another way to ensure you visit all the businesses participating is to pick up an official map. The map lists all the businesses handing out candy on Saturday as well as a suggested “Trail” for you to follow to visit everyone.
The Treat Trail Starting Point will be open at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Maps will be available today until Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Pick up your Treat Trail Map from the DVA office. Get your map art 4 -3101 29th St. (old train station building).
