North Okanagan communities are getting into the Halloween spirit.

A variety of firework and other celebrations will be happening Saturday evening.

In Vernon, the Okanagan Landing Fire Department will begin fireworks at 7:30 p.m. at Marshall Field.

Free goodie bags and hot chocolate will be served to the kids, and a raging bonfire will help keep everyone warm.

The BX-Swan Lake Fire Department will start its fireworks show at 8 p.m. at the hall on Silver Star Road. A concession and bonfire will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Chief Bill Wacey said that as parking has been an issue for the well-attended event in the past, Grace Bible Church on Silver Star Road will allow its facility for free parking for the fireworks show.

The Coldstream Fire Department will fire up the fireworks at 8 p.m. at Kal Beach. A bonfire will start at 7:30 p.m., and there will be free hot chocolate.

Chief Leo Lecavalier said parking is also an issue, and he recommends people arrive early to avoid parking problems.

The beach parking lot will be open for the evening.

In Lavington, the volunteer fire department will start the fireworks at 8 p.m. at Lavington Park. Chili, hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served by donation starting at 5 p.m.

Fireworks in Lumby will be handled by the volunteer fire department. Show starts at 8 p.m. at J.W. Inglis Elementary.

The Armstrong-Spallumcheen Fire Department will host the public at the IPE grounds. A bonfire starts at 7:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 7:45. Hot chocolate and hot dogs will be served.

Residents in Falkland can head to the Stampede Grounds to enjoy the fireworks display, put on by the volunteer fire department. A bonfire will be blazing to keep everyone warm, hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served, and the fireworks begin at 8 p.m.

There are no fireworks displays in Enderby and Oyama, but that doesn’t mean the community can’t get together and celebrate Halloween night.

In Enderby, the Lions Club will host a bonfire at 6:30 p.m. at Riverside Park, including hot chocolate and hot dogs. There will be entertainment at 7:30 p.m.

The Oyama Community Club is hosting a fun night at the community hall from 6 to 8:30 p.m., including music and traditional games and events such as hula hoops, pin the tail on the “donkey” and a candy jar, where you try to guess the amount of candy in the jar and win a prize.

Free hot dogs and hot chocolate will be provided.

After the fun evening, participants can then head outside to see the fireworks from across Wood Lake.

The District of Lake Country and the Lake Country Fire Department will be having a fireworks display at Beasley Park at 8 p.m.

A huge bonfire will be provided along with free hot dogs and hot chocolate from the Lions Club.
