Car lands in lake

A car stolen in Vernon a day or two before was found in the waters of Okanagan Lake at Kin Beach Thursday night.

Vernon RCMP report the 1990 Nissan Stanza was found 10 feet off-shore, three-quarters submerged.

Police believe the vehicle likely missed a curve on Tronson Road and ended up in the water.

All of the occupants of the vehicle had left the scene when police arrived shortly before midnight.

Vernon Fire Rescue had also been called to the scene and were ready with the jaws of life if needed.

Fire personnel report some people on the beach told them they saw three kids running from the scene.

Police do not believe there was any leakage from the car into the lake.

The towing bill to have the car removed from the lake was $365.
