Meghan Ross of Vernon has won one of the 2009 Gunter History Awards.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Canadian War Museum, the Colonel Douglas H. Gunter History Awards are a way of encouraging interest in Canadian military history among high school students. This year’s theme was “The Battle of the Plains of Abraham.”

Ross’s fictional work, Remembering les Plaines D’Abraham, was one of four selected from across Canada.

Each winner receives a monetary award. Entries are accepted in one of the following media: text, visual art, web design, audio or video production. The contest is open to Canadian students in their last year of high school.
