Fundraising for Transition House
Miriam Palfry with some of the items from her personal collection that she has in her silent auction to benefit Vernon Women’s Transition House Oct. 9, 10 and 11.
Miriam Palfry hopes her eclectic collection will become someone else’s treasures in her silent auction to benefit Vernon Women’s Transition House.
“I chose Transition House because my mother was abandoned with two children in 1945 and there was nothing then to help her and I was in the same situation in 1974 with no help. I want to help make sure that other women have the support they need when they have to make a new start and take care of their children alone,” she said.
Palfry, a writer, artist, actress, business owner and Tarot card reader over the years, is simplifying and downsizing because of health concerns and to devote more time to writing.
“These are not your average items. I have all my mother’s things, china like Royal Doulton, good quality furniture, art, lots of things in my logo cheetah print, paints and craft items, books, jewelry, and Tarot-related things,” she said.
“If somebody else can benefit from these things, it makes sense that they should have them and enjoy them.”
The silent auction also includes many small appliances, kitchen ware, stemware, flat ware, lights, carpets and good bedding, a handmade grandfather clock, garden equipment and tools, and a collection of healing tapes.
The silent auction takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3408-33rd Ave.
The highest bidder at 2 p.m. Sunday will be notified. For more information call 250-549-3402.
