Doucette brings his message to Bloom
Phil Doucette, an internationally renowned motivational speaker and author, headlines Charles Bloom’s Community Open House on Monday at 6 p.m.
Doucette is an inspirational speaker, and author, who has presented throughout North America to audiences as large as 10,000. He lives with the mission statement, “To live with the understanding that there are no ordinary moments.”
He has received tremendous praise wherever he has presented.Vaughn Granter, principal of Herdman Collegiate in Corner Brook, Nfld., said he has never received such overwhelming positive comments from any presentation his school has had.
“Philly D is indeed what everyone said he was,” said Granter, “a positive role model who loves to inspire and share passion with all people.”
Bloom vice-principal Jason Corday said Doucette’s entertaining presentation will highlight an essential message Bloom is working to convey to students: Not only is failure not an acceptable option…success is a great option.
The intent of the open house is to highlight the initiatives and programs underway at Bloom as well as provide an opportunity to gather as a learning community, socialize and celebrate student success.
“While there is tremendous support for the idea that failure is not an acceptable option, Bloom’s school goals as well as this notion and the expectations that surround it are not necessarily communicated from the school, a critical piece in ensuring that every child reaches their potential,” said Corday. “It has been said, ‘It takes a village to raise a child,’ therefore, it is critical that this message is both heard and reinforced for students in their homes, at school, and in their community. We hope to have all of Lumby out to this exciting event.”
Following Doucette’s talk, the school will be opened up and teachers will provide short presentations, demonstrations and opportunities to view the initiatives and programs that are occurring daily at Bloom. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
