Cue the screaming now as Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson reprise their roles as the lovelorn Bella and Edward in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

With A Christmas Carol hitting theatres this weekend (Jim Carrey does Scrooge? Cool!), it’s safe to say that the holiday movie season has arrived.

Second only to summer when it comes to a constant parade of blockbuster hits, let’s take a sneak peek at a six pack of upcoming flicks you may or may not want to add to your wish list:

1. The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Release date: Nov. 20.

I’m still not sure what to make of lovey-dovey vampires, but you can’t deny the popularity of the book series, or the fact that this baby, a follow-up to last year’s monster hit, is the most anticipated motion picture of ’09 (not by ME, mind you, but....)

Here, Bella gets sweet on werewolf Jacob, which doesn’t sit well with count Edward, or something like that.

2. Avatar. Release date: Dec. 18.

Since a series of slick commercials promoting this sci-fi nugget aired during the Super Bowl, the hype machine for Avatar has been chugging along quite nicely. It also doesn’t hurt that the whole project has been hiding behind a veil of mysterious secrecy.

James Cameron returns to the director’s chair for this, the story of a reluctant hero who strives to save an alien civilization.

3. Nine. Release date: Dec. 18.

After carrying Chicago to both box office and Oscar glory, director Rob Marshall tests his Midas touch with this star-studded musical.

With the likes of Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Fergie and Sophia Loren on board, I like his chances.

4. Invictus. Release date: Dec. 14.

Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman team up again, the former behind the camera, the latter taking on the challenging role of Nelson Mandela.

Invictus follows Mandela during his first term as South African president when he campaigned to host the 1995 Rugby World Cup event in order to unite his countrymen.

With Matt Damon in the mix, this one is as close to a can’t-miss as you can get.

5. 2012. Release date:  Nov. 13.

What would the holiday season be without a disaster film?

2012 looks like a doozie, as a global cataclysm threatens to flatten earth, wiping out peeps like John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Amanda Peet and Danny Glover in the process.

6. Sherlock Holmes. Release date: Dec. 25.

Director Guy Richie casts Robert Downey Jr. as the legendary sleuth, with Jude Law as Watson. Do you really need any other info than that? Should be a beauty.
