Once an establishment that sold alcohol illegally during prohibition, SPEAKeasy is now a gathering of the creative community at Gallery Vertigo.

Starting Friday, Vertigo will offer a venue for artists to perform, writers to read and musicians to play, and a chance for everyone to network, share ideas, and keep in touch with the creative pulse of the Okanagan.

“All are welcome to attend. Our door is open to students, creative professionals and curious onlookers. Choose to perform or just sit back and enjoy. It’s your home sweet home,” said Vertigo curator Judith Jurica.

Friday’s event is hosted by Other:___ Literary Magazine, a student-run magazine that publishes poetry, prose and visual arts from artists and authors all around Canada. It starts at 7 p.m. Admission is a suggested $3 at the door.
