A group of young businesspeople are tea-ing up an English tradition today in honour of mothers.

The Vernon chapter of Junior Chamber International are hosting a Mother’s Day Tea from 1 to 3 p.m.

“It’s a celebration of mothers and the relationship between mothers and daughters,” said Terry-Ann Kendrick, JCI chair for the event.

“It’s going to be like a proper English tea. It’s not a lunch, it’s sweets, treats and scones.”

The event, at the Japanese Hall on Bella Vista Road, will feature traditional teas donated by Tea Desire and catered by Gumtree Catering, a new local business.

The fundraiser will help to send members to the organization’s national convention, which includes valuable training opportunities.

The event will also include a presentation from Cindy Bertrand, from Puppets on Purpose.
