Jaycees introduce new board
A service club of young professionals has introduced a new board and handed out its annual awards.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) Vernon welcomed Barb McKechnie as the group’s president. Other board members include treasurer Erin Doucette, social director Daniel Leidel, secretary Sarah Hoyte, training director Leigha Horsfield and past president Nikki Mulder.
Mulder has confidence that her successor will pick up where the last board left off.
“Barb will do a fine job with her energy, vision and drive,” she said.
The Jaycees, as the group is also known, plans to organize an Oktoberfest and continue their support of the Paddle Against Cancer.
Sandra Simao took home the Member of the Year award for her development and implementation of the Junior Good Citizen of the Year program, which recognizes young people for their contributions to the community.
Leidel was named Rookie of the Year for chairing the Paddle Against Cancer Committee, among other work, and Mulder was named Executive Member of the Year for her leadership.
The Jaycees is open to young people involved in businesses between the ages of 19 and 40. For more information visit www.jcivernon.com.
