WEB FIRST: Three more robberies trouble Vernon police
Vernon RCMP believe a lone male responsible for a half-dozen robberies in a span of eight days struck three more businesses over the weekend.
Police are investigating robberies at Pizza Hut on 27th Street Saturday night before 6 p.m. Less than seven hours later, just before 1 a.m., the Village Green Hotel was robbed.
Sunday night, a lone male entered the Silver Star Liquor Store, attached to Butcher Boys on Pleasant Valley Road, at around 6:15 p.m. and demanded cash.
Police believe it's the same individual behind six previous robberies at five Vernon businesses.
"There are indicators that lead us to believe it's the same individual actively behind the three robberies," said Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.
Police dog services discovered a blue hooded-style jacket with a distinctive logo that appears to feature the brand "R2" in yellow lettering on a white background a short distance away from the Silver Star Liquor Store.
A pair of pants with a navy blue stripe down the side was also discovered. It's believed the suspect in the liquor store robbery wore these articles of clothing while committing the robbery, then disposed of them.
The pair of pants are similar to ones described on the suspect in another of the earlier robberies.
