The Summerland Curling Club has started league play for another season.

Linda Brussee, president of the curling club, said the leagues began last week.

Membership is a little higher than last year, but there are still opportunities for those interested in playing.

She added that the sport is popular among all ages.

“It’s a lifetime sport,” she said. “You can jump in anytime.

Leagues play Monday to Friday at the curling club.

Senior men play Monday and Wednesday morning and afternoon while other men’s leagues are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

A senior mixed league plays on Tuesday morning, while ladies’ leagues play on Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings.

The Thursday evening league is an open league while the Friday evening league is a mixed league which attracts many beginning curlers.

The curling club will hold an apple pie sale fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 7 beginning at 8 a.m. Brussee said 1,200 pies will be sold.

Upcoming action includes a senior men’s bonspiel Nov. 16 to 18. This will feature curlers from around the Okanagan.

The open men’s spiel will be held Nov. 27 to 29.
