Apple triathlon asks for volunteers

Those with a little bit of free time and the need for a free T-shirt can volunteer to help at this year’s Apple Triathlon in Kelowna.
The mammoth race is recruiting volunteers from all across the Okanagan valley.
Last year, the triathlon drew more than 1,300 racers and more than 700 volunteers.
“A variety of volunteer positions are available, including bike and run course marshals, set-up and take-down, security, body-marking, finish line duties and assistance to disabled athletes,” said Richard Montgomery, president of the Kelowna Apple Triathlon Society.
Volunteers receive an event manual, free T-shirt, food and a post-race appreciation party, along with draw prizes.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help at the race Aug. 21 to 23 can visit www.appletriathlon.com.
