U16 Pinnacle girls strike gold in provincial championship play

The SOYSA Pinnacles U16 Girls soccer team won the gold medal at the Youth Provincial Championships B Cup held in North Vancouver July 4 and 5.

The Pinnacles triumphed over the Whalley Bullets 1-0 in a thrilling final.

The team reached the finals by defeating the North Shore Snipers 3-0 and tieing the SUSC Wild Ones from Surrey 2-2 .

Coach Ray Hintz expressed his pride in the girls’ performance especially their work ethic and determination.

“They improved with every game,” he said, “and it showed in the way they played in the final.”

The Pinnacles were representing the Thompson Okanagan Youth Soccer League in their division having beaten Vernon for the TOYSL Cup.

The team is made up of players from Penticton, Summerland and Naramata.
