Jane Horton, left, recent Summerland Secondary graduate, is off to attend Kuroishi High School in Aomori, Japan on July 25.

She will be representing the Summerland Rotary Club in a one year youth exchange program.  She is looking forward to learning a new language, experiencing a new culture and gaining worldly insights.  Readers can follow Horton’s year abroad on the Summerland Rotary Club web site at www.clubrunner.ca/summerland.

At right is Anne Katrine Kristensen, who has just returned to Denmark after an “awesome” one year exchange hosted by the Summerland Rotary Club and local Rotary families.

She hopes to return in July 2010 to visit with her host families and the many friends she made while attending Summerland Secondary School.

More than 8,000 young people have experiences  through Rotary Youth Exchanges each year.

Students wanting an opportunity of a life time can learn more about the Youth Exchange at www.rotary.org  or by contacting any local Rotary member.
