The One Person Project will hold its second annual Kahama Celebration Banquet in Penticton on Saturday.

The local organization is supporting the Kahama region of Tanzania.  Funds raised will be used to set up a library at the Korogwe Primary School.

Silent auction items include a helicopter flight with Penticton based Canadian Helicopters and original artworks by the late Blaine Jackson, an artist of high standing from White Rock.

Volunteers have collected more than 6,000 books, so they are over half way to the 10,000 target.

They are also more than half way to raising the $25,000 needed to create the library.

The shipping containers that transport the books (and other supplies for Kahama) will carry doors, windows and shelving in order to convert the container into a library when it reaches its final destination.

For further details or to purchase tickets, donate silent auction items or make a donation contact Denise Whittaker 250-494-4680 or contact Denise via the website www.theonepersonproject.org.

The banquet will be at the Leisure Centre, 439 Winnipeg St., Penticton, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.
