Comedy opens on Cannery stage

The riotous comedy, I Hate Hamlet, opens tonight Thursday, Nov. 5 on the Cannery Stage in the Cannery Trade Centre in Penticton and continues until Nov. 28.

Shows are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at The Can Coffee Company, 1475 Fairview Road, Penticton. Phone 250-493-3044. The cast of this Many Hats production includes Summerlanders Jo Ann Reynolds, Monica Knoll and James Fofonoff.

Open mic

Open mics are held on the first Friday of the month at the Penticton Art Gallery. This monthly open mic and art sharing night is on Nov. 6. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Bring instruments, paints, poetry, your voice, an open mind etc. All creativity welcome. They have a large TV if you would like to screen something.

Show and sale

Penticton Artists and Authors Show and Sale will be held this Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1050 Eckhardt Ave W in Penticton. This is a great opportunity to meet the people behind the creativity, including several Summerlanders, and shop for unique, locally produced gifts.

Choral concert

The Okanagan Choral Society presents Bellevue Chamber Chorus and the Musaic Vocal Ensemble at 1:30 p.m. this coming Sunday, Nov. 8 at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church on Winnipeg Street. Tickets are available at Lifesong Records and Books, 358 Main Street, Penticton. Children and students free.

Artisan sale

The second annual Art with Heart Artisan Sale will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 from 2 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  This free event, is being held at Summerland Alliance Church on Victoria Road North and will feature the works of local up and coming artists, photographers, potters, jewelry designers and others offering high quality gift giving items. It will also feature mini concerts by recording artists Tracy Fehr and Brandon Dykstra. The event is to raise funds for several worthy charities including an orphanage in Mexico, vulnerable women in North Africa, the needy of Asia and Aids-affected women in South Africa. 

Gift sale

Season Sparkles, an opportunity to shop for unique, handcrafted gifts, will be held at the Summerland Art Gallery with the opening night being at the Festival of Lights on Friday, Nov. 27. Season Sparkles continues until Dec. 6.
