Art gallery holds fundraising evening

Incredible art at and incredibly fun evening with hors d’oeuvres, champagne, music by Winden Harp.

And best of all you go home with a great piece of art from some of these local well known artists: Laurel Cormack, Bill Hibberd, Dale Matthews, Enid Chin, Joan Lansdell, Susan Kruse, Carol Munro.

Art Off the Wall is this Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Summerland Art Gallery.

Your ticket provides you with free entry for your accompanying guest and a work of art.

Model show

The 9th Annual Peachland Model and Hobby show is this Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Peachland Community Centre.

Come see the, trains, radio controlled cars, planes, model doll houses, helicopters and ships and some wonderful coin and stamp collections.  

Fibre art

Connections: Fibre Art by Filamenta. This group showing by fabric artists Dawna Dey Harrish, Cathy Tomm and Sharon Willas Rubuliak opens next Thursday, Oct. 8 and runs until Nov. 21.

Opening reception Thursday, Oct. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Art Gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Library month

October is Library month so why not check out one of the titles short-listed for this year’s Seventh Annual George Ryga Award of Social Awareness in Literature.

The top three titles this year are A Slice of Voice at the Edge of Hearing by Brian Dedora, The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway and Reena: A Father’s Story by Manjit Virk.

Art workshop

Dawna Dey Harrish with Filamenta will be instructing a special effects fibre art workshop on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Arts Gallery. To register call 250-494-4494.

Fall show

Oliver Community Arts Council 26th Annual Fall Art Show. Theme: Autumn. Saturday, Oct. 3 from 3 to 9 p.m.

Public display and voting 3 to 8 p.m. Reception 6 to 9 p.m. at the Oliver Community Centre Hall.

The artists are from all over the South Okanagan and will be exhibiting works at their show in the following categories: paintings in all mediums, fibre art, three dimensional, photography and new media, the under 20s – 19 and under, and a special category of Best Interpretation of Theme.
