Art extravaganza fundraiser planned

Art Off the Wall Exhibition and Extravaganza will be held Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Summerland Art Gallery. You acquire a work of art for the price of admission and meet the artists. Free entry for your accompanying guest. Complimentary glass of champagne and a variety of hors d’oeuvres. Special music by Winden Harp — Debi Johnson. Art exhibit
An Exhibition by Artist Friends of George L. Traicheff opens tonight, Thursday, Sept. 17 with a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Enjoy a night of friends, artwork, stories, and the chance to meet this great group of artists in one setting! Show continues until October at Leir House Cultural Centre, 220 Manor Park Ave, Penticton.

Nominations
The B.C. Interior Awards are coming up and nominations are now being received. Recently Tracy Fehr of Summerland (www.tracyfehr.com) had a CD nominated for the Gospel Music Association of Canada’s Covenant Award for Classical/Traditional Album of the year and one of the songs, Silenced Voices was nominated for Classical/Traditional Song of the Year. History book
Our Fair, 1909 to 2009 written by David Gregory and Sherrill Foster, briefly outlines the history of the fair and features photos from the museum’s archives is available at the museum.
Jam nights
Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Summerland Asset Development Initiative’s new youth coffeehouse will host Jam Nights providing youth 16 to 24 the opportunity to share their talents and learn some new skills. SADI will also be offering pottery lessons with local potter Wendy Ferlin. For information call 250-494-9722.
Street art
Re-imagine street art. Visit downtown Penticton for this festival and convention and view street artists in action as they create works of art. Businesses in the downtown core will be donating walls in the back alleys of the 200 block of Main Street, in the heart of downtown Penticton, for the creation of murals. They’ll have DJs, a merchant area, artist talks and more.
