The Summerland Art Gallery is inviting proposals for those wishing to have a show in the Art Galley in 2010. The Call for Submissions deadline is Sept. 18.

Artwalk

Artwalk is in full swing. Look for window posters Art Walk Here in local businesses. Pick up a descriptive brochure at the Art Gallery.

And don’t forget to pick up a banner brochure as well and match the artist with the banners around Summerland. 

On stage  

Urinetown — the Musical continues at Centre Stage until Saturday, Aug. 8.

Tickets for this very amusing play are available at The Sweet Tooth and the Art Gallery.

Historical tour

Join museum curator Sherril Foster and David Gregory for The Story of Peach Orchard this Saturday, Aug. 8 and discover the interesting history of one of Summerland’s earliest developed areas. Pre-registration required so call 250-494-9395.

On Aug. 22 you can re-live the history of the Brigade Trail with David Gregory and Follow the Path of the Fur Traders and explore a 4.1-kilometre segment of the original Okanagan Brigade Trail which offers one of the most sensational viewpoints of Okanagan Lake. Again pre-registration is required.

Audio books

Going on a road trip this summer? Check out the great supply of audio books available at the Summerland Library.

You can also download audiobooks to your mp3 player through the province’s Library to Go website. See audiobook downloads at www.orl.bc.ca

And don’t forget your can use your Summerland Library card at Princeton, Osoyoos, Golden and 26 other libraries in our area.

Theatre

Bumbershoot Children’s Theatre, 1379 Ellis St., Kelowna, brings you P.D. Eastman’s Go Dog Go!

This production offers an extra performance Aug. 11 at 11:30 a.m. in addition to the Saturday performances on Aug. 15 11:30 and 2 p.m.
