Garbage collection system explained
The District of Summerland is hosting two open houses later this month to explain how the new garbage and recycling programs will work.
The open houses will also answer any questions residents may have. Displays will be set up that describe the curbside service and show the expanded selection of materials that will be acceptable for recycling.
Municipal staff and representatives from the company contracted to provide this service will be attending. These sessions will be held downstairs at the library on Friday March 28 from 5 to 8 p.m. and again the following day, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The municipality will also send out information packages to all homes in mid-April. These packages will contain instructions on how and what to recycle and how to prepare yard waste for curbside collection as well as a schedule of collection dates.
Curbside collection will begin on May 1 for most residents.
