o Tickets available in Summerland and Penticton

The Penticton Tune-Agers will ring in spring with its annual concert as part of a special celebration of Penticton’s 100 year anniversary.

This year’s Spring Variety Show will focus on Penticton’s century. The group, which is made up of a 45 voice choir and 15 member orchestra, attracts musicians from Westside to Osoyoos including at least a dozen members from Summerland.

The concert will take place on Sunday, April 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cleland Theatre in Penticton.

John Tamblyn, a Summerland member of the group, says a number of old musical memories will be showcased during the concert. These include: I Love a Piano from 1915; Anything Goes from 1934; Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy from 1940; Catch a Falling Star from 1957 and Shine on Me from 2001.

For the last five years, the TuneAgers have presented sold out Christmas concerts at the Summerland United Church.

“The group has a loyal Summerland following who look forward to each concert,” says Tamblyn.

With the popularity in the community, the tickets have been made available at the Summerland Bookstore and Okanagan Books in Penticton and can also be purchased by Tune Ager members.

The TuneAgers have been performing to audiences in North America and overseas for over 30 years. The group also has become popular for their varied presentations including solos, ensembles and skits.

“Their performances have been well recognized as providing a well appreciated variety musical evening,” adds Tamblyn.

People are encouraged to get their tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
