A Summerland business is squeezing every last drop out of area fruit.
Donna and Tim Nytchay’s fruit and vegetable juice bar Yaya’s Jujee Fruits has been open for 21/2 months now, with a regular established clientele.
Donna noted the bulk of customers she sees at the juice bar are people concerned about their health.
Yaya’s also carries smoothies and wheatgrass shots. Donna said a mixture called Strawberry Rose has been one of the most popular, although everyone has their own favourite flavours.
“A lot of people like the sour.”
Donna said Yaya’s helps people to try and find the natural approach to maintaining good health. She pointed out the benefits of chlorophyll and fruit.
“We’ve always juiced. As a family, we’ve gone through four or five in the house.”
Donna noted the family has accumulated 30 years worth of knowledge on the health benefits of natural juices. She added that Tim is a former provincial champion bodybuilder, with a strong awareness of nutrition.
The family also makes home-made sorbets and ice cream for some of the drinks. The Yaya’s menu boasts ingredients of all sorts, from apples and oranges to blueberries, lemons and limes.
“Apples are always the best. They pack a lot of nutrients, it makes your juice taste sweeter.”
Donna said the name of the juice bar came from a mixture of a family nickname for herself, and the outlook that fruit juices are “just good juju”. Yaya’s Jujee Fruits can be found at 13222 Kelly Ave.
