Opinion

G’Day Folks, Well here is another one for the books of our fearless provincial leader.

On July 18, 2008, our premier put into place an amendment to the Community Living Authority Act that disability services will be restricted to persons with an IQ of 70 or less.

This means that anyone with an IQ of over 70 with a disability will NOT get the services that they need.

There is no place for them to go to get the necessary help they need.

Can you believe this nonsense? This government leading our province has no heart at all. We have seen it here in Princeton, Uncle Gordy will not give us any funding for our hospital.

The health care system in this province is a disgrace, here we are with few doctors, that are probably over worked and under paid, and the government is sitting on a wad of cash that they do not want to spend wisely.

They are selling off the mineral right in the north for millions, but where is that cash going?

The new Trade and Convention Centre, yeah, right-cost overruns up the you no what! Highway upgrades? Well, maybe in some parts of the province, around here? I will believe it when I see it.

Ok, so you are saying that the government just gave us a chunk of change to build the Bridge of Dreams. Yeah, that’s cool—the Town Square project, Ok, the Airport Expansion, sure we need it, but what about our hospital and health care system here in Princeton?

Here we go again, I just got another e-mail release that Uncle Gordy and his cohort, Health Minister Abbott, that they are giving the province’s health care system a shot in the arm to the tune of $120 million in cash. Yippee, right?

Wrong. They are giving it to health authorities to “meet increased demands and pressures across the system, including surgeries and diagnostic procedures”.

They say that this is an increase of 25 per cent over and above the $465.7 million that they already gave us in February.

What? They gave out $425 million and we didn’t see a dime of it, did we?

Come on guys, how many times do I have to tell you that we need some of our hard earned tax dollars back so that we can have, at the very least, some more beds in our hospital, a place where Princeton women can have their babies in a safe environment, not on the side of the roadway!

Get a grip you guys, open your eyes.

That’s my opinion.
