VFFN explore Stemwinder Mountain
Janis Wright led a small group of Naturalist club members on a hike up Stemwinder Mountain on October 3rd, a cool and somewhat snowy day at the higher elevation [light flakes, but they fell continuously!]. The hardy members trekked to a high meadow, where we enjoyed a good view of the Mascot Mine and the Similkameen Valley to the east of Hedley. Lunch and hot beverages were appreciated once we returned to the McIntosh cabin!
The next club activity will be an outdoor cookout at a campground on the Tulameen River on Saturday, November 7th. We will walk along the KVR trail to the campground from a point near Coalmont. As always, the public is invited to attend. Please bring your own food to cook, a little wood for the fire and don’t forget to confirm your participation with Blaine or Arlene Marsel at 295-3404. We will meet at Billy’s Restaurant at 10:00 am.
The next evening program will take place Tuesday, November 10th, 7:00 pm at the Riverside Centre, when Lawrence Stoochnoff will present a slide show entitled “Snow Birds in Arizona.” All are welcome to attend!
