Rockets launch

Injuries and absences didn’t stop the Thompson Okanagan Female Midget AAA Rockets from going undefeated in their first weekend of action during the Thanksgiving weekend in Langley. With 12 players the Rockets defeated the Fraser Valley Phantoms 3-2, Prince George Cougars 7-0 and the Vancouver Island Impact 7-3. Scoring for the Rockets: Julia MacKinnon: five goals, three assists; Alex Gowie: four goals and four assists; Karoline Huber with two goals and four points; Ayla Oppenheim a goal and three points; Stephanie Powers: one goal; Sarah Casorso: two goals and four points; Kaylie Schaupmeyer with one goal; Lauren Ruggerio: three assists; Jordan Krause four assists and Angie Williams one assist.

MSL soccer

In Masters Soccer League action, the Osoyoos Nicemen defeated Penticton Athletic 7-4 and Naramata Sporting were 9-4 victors over the Summerland Rapid. Next action features Osoyoos versus Naramata and Summerland against Penticton.

Coaching class

Learn ethical coaching, planning a practice and nutritional advice with PacificSport Okanagan. Sessions are from 6-9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Penticton Community Centre meeting room 3. This is targeted for adults and is $80 per person. Space is limited. Mufflers smokin’

The Midget Minute Mufflers earned two wins in Penticton Minor Hockey Midget Recreational hockey. The Mufflers defeated Merritt No. 2 10-3 then defeated Merritt No. 1 9-5. Leading the way for the Mufflers was Nolan Frymire who scored six goals.  Jordan Vanderhoek and Andrew Furness scored three goals each. Scoring two goals each were Shawn Reems and Jeremy Bravo. Marlee Horning, Daniel Brigham and Andrew Carter each scored once. Both games were at Memorial Arena.

Five for Schenker

In atom house action, the Okanagan Hockey School defeated GAP 6-3. Brock Schenker had a five-goal performance with a single by Daniel Carelse.  Ben Schwabe was a standout in goal.
