It was lucky number 11 for the Penticton BMX Club. That’s how many members returned from Kelowna with provincial championship plates on Sept. 13. Riders who finished in the top three were Paige Haamers, 13 first in her age group, Jake Haamers, 15, first in his age group, Megan Byers, 14, second, Jody Turner, second in the men’s 30-35 and Larry Rae, second in the men’s 45-50 group. Other riders collecting plates were Jordon Bartram, 7, fourth, Brett Byers, 11, 10th, Aidan Danby, 8, ninth, Josh Holland, 10, ninth, Nathan McLennan,7, sixth.

In provincial championship races, the series goal is to determine age group overall champions and distribute number rankings to eligible riders. Those riders must compete in at least three provincial qualifier events and that rider’s best finishes will be counted in the points system. Riders are awarded based on 50 per cent of the total number of riders with provincial championship points in each age group according to the points listing, not to exceed 10 plates per age.
