Penticton RCMP search for driver
Penticton RCMP are looking for the driver of a faded red hatchback style car after he struck and injured a cyclist on Sunday.
A 19-year-old female was riding her bike westbound on Eckhardt Avenue and was crossing through the intersection at Winnipeg Street when a north bound vehicle made a right hand turn onto Eckhardt Avenue.
"In doing this the vehicle struck her and knocked her down. The driver got out and yelled at her that she should have stopped, he got back into his vehicle and drove off," said Sgt. Rick Dellebuur. "The female sustained bruising and a cut as a result of the collision."
The motorist is described as Caucasian, heavy-set, in his 30s, possibly bald or balding and was wearing a smooth cap with a small brim.
Penticton RCMP requests anyone with information on the identity of the driver or anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Const. Matt Noel at the Penticton detachment at 250-492-4300 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
