Regular 20-minute closures will occur Saturday in the Summerland Highway 97 construction zone.

“We plan to use the helicopter for hanging meshing ... weather permitting,” said Jacqui Lloyd, public information officer for the Ministry of Transportation and Arthon Contractors Inc. “During this activity, there will be regular 20-minute closures. Close for 20, clear traffic, close for 20 and so on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.”

Drivers are also reminded to use caution and obey the 50 to 70 km/h posted speed both during the day and at night. Motorists should also watch for and obey the flaggers near the active work areas for their protection and the protection of the workers.

“For some mysterious reason reflectors are falling over and signs are going missing in the construction zone after work is done for the day. This mischief jeopardizes the safety of those who use the road afterwards, especially in the dark,” said Lloyd. “If you witness anything like this, please report the licence plate or any other information to local police.”
