Three arrested in drug busts
The Penticton RCMP Drug Task Force reeled in two men with extensive criminal records during a pair of recent drug busts.
Officers executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Calgary Avenue on Oct. 14, turning up more than just a stash of marijuana.
“The officers arrested a 24-year-old female and a 26-year-old male at the residence, also present were two very young children,” said Cpl. Brad Myhre of the Penticton RCMP Drug Task Force.
“The officers seized over four ounces of marijuana bud, packaged for street level sales.”
The two adults were charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and held for court the next morning, after which the female was released on bail and the male was remanded in custody.
“He was, at the time of his arrest, serving a conditional sentence order for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and several other charges,” said Myhre.
Myhre said an Oct. 8 vehicle stop on Ellis Street resulted in a drug search warrant being executed at a residence on Duncan Avenue. Officers arrested a 49-year-old male resident of Penticton and located quantities of cocaine and morphine.
“The male, who was already on bail for drug trafficking offences and has a very lengthy criminal record, faces new charges of possession of cocaine, possession of morphine for the purpose of trafficking and three breach of undertaking charges,” said Myhre, adding the man has been remanded in custody.
