Cooler weather arrives in Okanagan
Meteorologist are confirming what most students and their educators already know: summer is over.
“There definitely was a sudden change from summer-like weather to fall-like weather,” confirmed Doug Lundquist, a meteorologist for Environment Canada.
Tuesday’s high in Penticton was about 16 C, a far cry from the high of 30.4 the city enjoyed a couple of weeks ago.
Lundquist expects the first flakes of snow this week on the Coquihalla Highway as a cold frontal system moves across B.C.’s interior.
“There might have been a few flakes but nothing collected yet because the ground is still warm,” Lundquist said Tuesday.
Eventually the snow will start to stick some time today, and then again sometime towards the end of the week or into the weekend, he added, with a possible snowfall of 5-10 cm along the higher elevations of the Coquihalla.
