Keremeos police warn residents of break and enter thieves
Three break and enters to downtown residences have RCMP warning residents to keep alert of unusual people in their neighbourhoods.
"Reports of an unknown male in the downtown area near the break and enter's was reported the following morning after the fact," said Const. Victoria Hett of the Keremeos RCMP. "Police remind owners to call police immediately if they see anyone unusual around their properties during the day or night and to record the serial numbers from their bicycles and valuable items and to make sure residences and garden sheds are left secure and locked up.
On July 2 Keremeos RCMP received three reports of break enter's to downtown residences which occurred approximately between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on July 1 and 5 a.m. on July 2.
"During one of the incidence the owners of the house were at home on the opposite side of the residence when the suspect(s) pried a screen off and entered through an open window," said Const. Victoria Hett of the Keremeos RCMP. The suspect(s) were in the house for a very short period of time before leaving and were not seen by the owner at the time."
Items stolen from the three residences include a black Norco bicycle, toll boxes, tools, a black Nikon camera, cheque books, suitcases and several priceless elephant figurine artifacts from around the world. The elephant figurines range in size from two inches to two feet in various colours and are either porcelain or wooden in nature.
