City hosting technology symposium
In October, Penticton will play host to a unique conference, addressing the issue of a coming challenge of developing a workforce trained in engineering and sciences to meet coming needs.
This first-ever Engineering, Science and Technology Education Symposium will be held Oct. 23 to 25 at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, bringing together educators, employers and students from B.C. and around the world, and encouraging students to pursue their interests in sciences and technologies.
“The future of our community, province and nation depends on innovation-led economic growth fuelled by a strong science and engineering workforce,” said Dick Fletcher, chair of the symposium steering committee and a professional engineer.
The symposium is organized by Okanagan College, in conjunction with UBC Okanagan, the Central Okanagan School District and other Okanagan agencies.
