Closing arguments heard for officer charged with assault

The final day of hearings in the trial of a Summerland RCMP officer charged with assault causing bodily harm concluded with competing narratives about the use of force during an incident along Highway 97 in Summerland more than two years ago.

Crown prosecutor Cassandra Malfair accused Cpl. Andre Turcotte of using excessive force against Scott Campbell during a physical confrontation along the outskirts of Summerland along Highway 97 in the late hours of Nov. 20, 2007.
