Flu clinics underway for H1N1
Jerry Bucil rolls up his sleeve for Shannon Spear-Doirek at the flu clinic held Tuesday, November 3 at the Seniors Centre in Keremeos. The clinic experienced a strong turnout, with a line up extending out the door and down Seventh Avenue.
A flu shot clinic at the Keremeos Senior’s Centre attracted a steady flow of citizens lining up to get either regular flu shots or the H1N1 needle.
“We are prioritizing at-risk groups during this clinic,” said Linda Partington, a Keremeos Public Health Nurse.
“People under 65 with chronic health issues, children under five, pregnant women over 20 weeks, and care givers of those with immuno-compromised systems are priorities today.”
The clinic, which ran from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., on November 3, had 1000 doses of the H1N1 shot on hand
Residents are advised to check the Interior Health website for information on future clinics in the area. (www.interiorhealth.ca/2009FluClinics.aspx)
Some cases of H1N1 have been reported in the area. Absenteeism at SESS was running at high levels on Monday, but whether that was due to the flu or some other malady is unknown.
