Contraceptives and scams

The never-ending activities of the true believer environmental cult are getting crazier. Last week, so called activists disrupted parliament in their quest for news headlines. Extremist advocates have appeared in every major media outlet in our land. The earth’s icecaps are melting and our Polar Bears are all dying. At least that is what we are told to believe.

Every proclamation is wrapped in the holy grail of science. Alternate energy sources must be found, enhanced and implemented if this world is to survive. The big question is, what kind of alternate energy and who’s world?

Most of what we do hear and are led to believe is not science. It is political and the big moves are distorted to make us think otherwise. We are told that wind power and solar panels should take over because conventional sources of energy must end.

How many times have we heard the Sierra club crying foul about the land required for a hydro-electric dam? Yet, hydro electric power is renewable and clean.

Without those dams, a lot of lights would go out and thousands would starve. To the extremists in the environmental movement-that’s okay—as long as pretty valleys and canyons are preserved.

Others would have us believe that wind power would solve our energy problems, if only we had enough wind turbines. It takes about 650 of the best wind turbines to generate

1000 megawatts of power. It also takes about 125 square miles to have a wind farm of that size. We would have to accept that wind only blows about 30% of the time and when it doesn’t, no power is produced.

Regrettably, the one source of energy that requires only a few ounces of energy is that of nuclear power. It’s sad, because we have been brain washed into thinking that every nuclear facility is a bomb waiting to happen. Extremists point to the Chernobyl disaster as proof that we must oppose nuclear power.

The hundreds of working reactors around the world are never enough to convince our extremists of anything. Well built and managed reactors are safe and we need to think hard about that fact. The truth is that the energy needs of a huge city can be met with just six ounces of fuel. The time is long overdue to get serious about understanding and harnessing nuclear energy around the world, to the advantage of everyone.

One of the largest contributing factors to increased carbon dioxide emissions is the world wide population explosion. Breathing produces green house gas because when we breath out, it’s carbon dioxide. Alas, the politicians of our world won’t discuss that subject.

Much easier to penalize those of us that live in North America than it is to face reality.

Perhaps if we had a United Nations Secretariat to supply condoms to Nations who are producing the most births, the impact on reducing carbon dioxide would be much more significant.

Since that’s not a good idea to the politicians, their latest scheme is growing into a larger and more sinister horror story. We now have carbon credit exchanges starting up around the world in which credits are bought and sold. Speculating on so-called carbon futures is becoming part of the greed cycle.

Still, countries like China and India aren’t penalized because they are developing. So, the good old United Nations deems them exempt from saving our planet. Because of this political exemption, China can sell it’s carbon credits for cash on the market. Actually, China has bluntly stated that it will not link production and environmental issues.

The Governor of our Bank of Canada warns us about what he calls “world wide financial restructuring.” That simply means the United States is going broke and Asia and the Middle East oil countries have almost gained control of the market place.

The need to respect our planet and treat it kindly should not be used to allow so called emerging nations to gain financial supremacy of the world. Yet, that is what is happening. Competition with “fair and free” trade agreements should take priority

over carbon trading scams.

Because the true believers and extremists in the environmental movement have such overwhelming influence, our standard of living is in jeopardy. We can only hope our governments will give in to common sense rather than zealous environmentalists.

In my travels around this world, one thing is apparent. Folks here at home treat our world with far more respect than most other places. We recycle and we don’t spew our garbage. Yes, our distances are great and that requires transportation, which uses fuel.

But, we always are striving to find better and less energy dependent ways of doing things.

The zealots in the environmental movement need to realize that condoms are safer and less hazardous than slick Willy Carbon Trading Scams! Perhaps they should take their protesting to China or Russia.
