Keremeos light up promises to be a little different
This year Similkameen Country is planning a little different celebration for Christmas Light up.
The Christmas Light Parade will be held on Friday, December 4. It will start at Valley First and continue down Main Street to the village offices.
Similkameen Country hopes as many floats as possible will be entered in the parade, as once again the peoples choice award prize will be available for the best decorated one. They will be parked in front of the village offices and down Veterans Avenue.
This year the gazebo will be decorated and Santa will be stopping there to visit with the children.
Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served from the kitchen at the info centre. This event is in the early stages of planning but it is hoped that this will be an outside village square celebration. The craft fair will be held as usual in the Victory Hall, Friday December 3 from 3 -9 p.m. and then Saturday from 10 a.m.– 3 p.m.
As a fundraiser, raffle tickets will be sold and the prize is two concert tickets to the Johnny Reid New Years Eve show, a night stay at the Ramada Inn and a $150 gift certificate for the Kettle Valley Station. These tickets are $5 each and some of the profits will be donated to the Christmas Hamper Fund so it is anticipated that sales will be brisk.
Tickets can be purchased at the Info Centre, Keremeos Review, and Valley First Credit Union.
An application for a parade entry can be picked up at the Info Centre and Similkameen Agencies or on Sim Country’s web site www.similkameencountry.org. The filled out applications can be faxed to Similkameen Country 250-499-5225 or dropped off at the Info Centre and Similkameen Agencies.
Vendors for the craft fair can pick up an application at the Info Centre or go to the web site and print one . If you want a table please make application early as there is limited space. Applications for vendor tables must be dropped off at the Info Centre or faxed to 250.499-5225.
As planning for this event progresses updated announcements will be emailed.
If anyone would like to help with this event please contact Colleen Christensen at the info centre.
Lets make Christmas in the Lower Similkameen an awesome event.
