Jason Wiebe is the new minister of Keremeos’ Elim Tabernacle.

Wiebe, along with his wife Melissa and four children - Joseph, Timothy, Arabelle, and Havalah, arrived in Keremeos in mid July from Port Hardy on Vancouver Island.

Wiebe previously pastored for five years at Port Allison.

“We are talking about a couple of things we’d like to do,” he said in relation to changes to the church. “We are looking at ways to help address the region’s social concerns. This is our big goal.”

Wiebe has also been busy helping some local ranchers bring in their hay crops through the summer. He ended up in Keremeos after the District Superintendent on the island asked him if he was interested in serving the Keremeos church with its 12 member congregation.

“I’ve lived in small towns all my life,” he explained, “having grown up in Lillooett, one of the only differences here that I’ve noticed is the agricultural basis of the Similkameen.”
