On September 14, 2009 at approximately 3:00 P.M., a 2009 Sterling Commercial Unit pulling a box trailer, driven by a 57 year old Penticton man was north bound on Hwy 97 approximately 2 kms south of Penticton, B.C. A 32 year old Keremeos man was walking southbound on Hwy 97 at this location when for no apparent reason he jumped into the path of the oncoming semi. There was no chance for the semi driver to avoid hitting the man. The right side tires of the semi unit drove over the man’s lower extremities. The man was transported to Penticton Regional Hospital where it was determined that the 32 year old man suffered a broken femur, broken right leg and a laceration to his abdomen. He remains in hospital. RCMP continue their investigation but have ruled out any fault on the part of the semi driver.
