The September 8 meeting of the Senior’s Association, held in the Senior’s Centre and chaired by President Dave Stewart, was well attended.

Members’ birthdays over the summer months were acknowledged, as was the 71st wedding anniversary of Bob and Elsi McNeil.

A letter of thanks had been received from Keri Fields of Okanagan Falls. She had been the recipient of the $500 Senior Citizen’s Bursary, which was presented to her at the June grad ceremony at South Okanagan Secondary School.

With the assistance of government grant, a new high efficiency furnace had been installed at the hall over the summer. The monies left over from the grant will hopefully pay for a new water heater.

The Senior’s Association participated in Okanagan Falls Days on the weekend with a pancake breakfast.

Members approved of life memberships to be given to Margaret and Ron Baldwin for their outstanding years of service to the senior’s association in Okanagan Falls.

Carrie Jackson of the South Okangan Seniors Wellness Society spoke on their upcoming 2009 Seniors Symposium, to be held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on October 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. where there will be over 100 displays and more than $4,000 in raffle prizes to be drawn during the event. Entertainment will be ongoing throughout the day.
