Rockets over Prince George in shootout

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-4 in a shootout on Wednesday night as Tyson Barrie and Adam Brown combined to win the game in the shootout.

Barrie was the only Kelowna player to score in the shootout while Brown stopped all three Cougars shooters as Kelowna improved to 9-7-1-0.

Kelowna jumped out of the gates quickly, scoring twice in the game's first eight minutes on goals by Mitchell Callahan and Brandon McMillan.

The Cougars made a game of it though, scoring twice in the period as James Dobrowolski had both PG goals in the period. Cougars forward Nick Buonassisi put Prince George on top with a breakaway goal after coming out of the penalty box midway through the second period for a 3-2 lead. Kelowna's Kyle St. Denis tipped in a power play marker on a nice pass from Shane McColgan to tie the game at 3-3 and send the team's to the dressing room locked in a tie through 40 minutes

The teams exchanged goals early in the third period. Spencer Main scored to give the Rockets a 4-3 lead before the Cougars Robbi Ciolfi tied it up at 4-4 just two minutes later.
