OC strong on power play
Special teams were the key as the Okanagan College Crusaders cruised to its first home victory ever last weekend, defeating the University of Fraser Valley 8-5 at the Winfield Arena last Friday.
The Crusaders scored five power play goals and were perfect on the night killing off eight power play opportunities from Fraser Valley.
Fraser Valley turned the tables on Saturday night however, capitalizing on several OC turnovers to down the Crusaders 7-3.
On Friday night Craig Materi and Andrew Rebus both scored twice while Kelly Loudoun, Jerry Graba, Sasha Golin and Matt Elia also scored.
Goalie Adam Butler picked up the win.
On Saturday Golin, Devin Gelowitz and Kolby Barnstable did the scoring for OC in a losing cause
After eight games of its inaugural season in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League the Crusaders sit fifth out of seven teams with a 2-5-1 record.
Simon Fraser University leads the way with a perfect 5-0 record while the University of Fraser Valley and Thompson Rivers University are tied for second with six points.
OC’s next game is Oct. 31 against Simon Fraser. ITs net home game is Nov. 16 when Selkirk College comes to Kelowna.
